Supro 1695TJ Black Magick 25W 1×12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp Black
25W, 2-channel 1 x 12″ Tube Combo Amp with Jensen Speaker, Independent Volume Controls, and Tremolo
The Zeppelin Sound — Now with a Jensen Speaker
Guitarists have been chasing Jimmy Page’s tone for decades. Now, thanks to the Supro Black Magick Combo, the search is over. The Black Magick Combo is a modern-day replica of Jimmy’s customized Supro, the small tube combo amplifier he used on the lion’s share of early Zeppelin tracks. And as Supro’s highest-gain amp to date, it delivers the massive, cranked-stack-of-amps sound that birthed the hard rock genre. What’s more, its two channels can be run independently or in parallel for even more crunch and tone shaping options. Plus, a 12-inch Jensen P12Q speaker elevates this guitar amplifier above its predecessor. The Black Magick Combo will instantly take you back to the tones of “Good Times Bad Times” and “Communication Breakdown.”
The Jimmy Page legacy
For many rock aficionados, the guitar tones on Led Zeppelin’s self-titled debut album are some of the most revered in history. While they sound like a huge stack of screaming amps, in reality, many of those tones were conjured from Jimmy Page’s highly customized 1 x 12-inch Supro combo. The Black Magick Combo is a re-creation of that amp, right down to the replaced speaker baffle from when Page converted the amp from a 2 x 10-inch design. Crank this amp up and bask in those iconic sounds while you enjoy touch-sensitive levels of grit.
Two powerful channels
Like Jimmy Page’s original amplifier, the Supro Black Magick Combo boasts two separate channels, each with their own inputs. On the Black Magick Combo, however, the channels can easily be run separately or in parallel. The parallel option cascades the channels together for increased gain, tone shaping, and sensitivity. You can also use an additional A/B pedal to switch between the two channels for different tones. And it’s also possible to run two separate instruments through the Black Magick Combo simultaneously.
Even more tonal options
The Black Magick Combo sounds so good that just cranking it up and digging in is well worth the price of admission. But the Black Magick Combo also boasts a stellar tube-driven tremolo. The trem’s depth and dimension can be switched via footswitch (not included). An uncommon pair of 6973 power tubes is what delivers the immediately recognizable midrange of the amplifier. And the Black Magick Combo is covered in black rhino Tolex that makes it visually stand out from most other tube combo amps on the market today. Needless to say, guitarists are stoked for this amp!
Jensen P12Q speaker
This version of the Black Magick Combo eschews its predecessor’s Supro BD12 speaker for a red-hot Jenson P12Q. Dubbed the “hot dog” or “sausage” because of the shape of the openings in its vintage-style steel basket frame, this 12-inch speaker is warm and balanced, with a glorious upper-midrange bite that’s tailor-made for aggressive rock ‘n’ roll. The addition of this Jensen speaker really takes the Black Magick Combo over the top. If you’re aiming for authentic late-’60s hard rock tones, this is a must-have guitar amplifier.
