The Amp Circuit That Started It All

Fender’s Bassbreaker series puts classic tones at your fingertips, preserving both past and future sounds with a few twists to offer up a wider palette. The Bassbreaker 45 guitar combo amp gets its voice from a ’59 Bassman-style preamp and 45 watts from an EL34 power section. The variable-wattage knob lets you choose your power from 45 watts down to 1 watt. With the Bassbreaker 45, you’ll bridge the Atlantic with a decidedly British take on Fender tone that guitarists are sure you’ll love.

Crossing the pond

Many iconic British amps were based on early Fenders, so it’s fitting that the Bassbreaker 45 harkens back to these classic designs. The Bassbreaker 45’s EL34-based, Class AB power section is the secret to crossing the American/British sound barriers. When cranked, it exudes full-bodied Class AB style with harmonically rich EL34 tones.

Customize your wattage

Forty-five watts is often ideal for when you really need to get above your band but still need the amp to break up just right. And it offers plenty of headroom for working well with pedals. Is 45 watts too much? The Bassbreaker 45’s variable wattage control dials in the exact amount of breakup or headroom you need from gig to gig, performance to session. You’ll always be able to push your Bassbreaker 45 into its sweet spot.

Onboard additions

In addition to the normal and bright inputs found on amps with this circuit, Fender added a Both input to make the Bassbreaker 45 even more versatile. That way each channel can be used for its own identifiable tones. Or you can bridge them together and take advantage of even more tonal shaping. By cranking one input or the other, you can determine which frequency range the overdrive will hit.
