Ibanez Iron Label Xiphos 7-string – Black Flat
7-string Electric Guitar with Okoume Body, Maple/Walnut Neck, Ebony Fingerboard, 2 Humbucking Pickups, and Edge-Zero II-7 Tremolo – Black Flat
The Sinister Xiphos with Blacked-out Aesthetics
The Ibanez Iron Label Xiphos XPTB720 was crafted for pure unadulterated metal, as evidenced by its radical Xiphos body and sinister blacked-out aesthetics. Boasting an okoume body, this axe is a certified headbanger — okoume is a tonewood renowned for its bright, cutting tone and incredible natural sustain. And that’s before you even plug it in! Paired with a suitable high-gain amplifier, the XPTB720 churns out face-melting metallic textures, courtesy of a set of DiMarzio D Activator-7 humbuckers. Meanwhile, its 5-piece Wizard II-7 neck and 24-fret ebony fingerboard provide unfettered access to your most technically demanding riffs. You also get rock-solid, stage-ready hardware, such as Gotoh tuning machine heads and an Edge-Zero II-7 tremolo, which facilitates sociopathic levels of whammy bar abuse without the tuning headaches. If you want to play extreme metal, you need an extreme 7-string electric guitar like the Iron Label Xiphos XPTB720.
Incredibly fast Wizard II-7 neck
One of Ibanez’s fastest necks to date, the 5-piece maple/walnut Wizard II-7 neck on the XPTB720 is an absolute pleasure to play. This slim and super-comfortable neck lets you pull off lightning-fast runs, arpeggios, and hammer-ons with ease, but it still gives you the substance you need for fretting chords. Capping the neck is a 24-fret ebony fingerboard that’s loaded with jumbo frets that are perfect for big note bends. From the first time you put your hands on the XPTB720’s Wizard II-7 neck, you’ll know you’ve got a guitar that was built with performance in mind.
Active guitar tones without the battery
Ibanez loaded the Iron Label Xiphos XPTB720 with a pair of DiMarzio D Activator-7 humbucking pickups. These high-octane pickups deliver a full and enriched harmonic quality that’s great for rhythm and solo playing alike. DiMarzio designed their D Activator pickups to eliminate the sterile edginess that plagues many active pickups. The bottom line is that they deliver all the advantages of active pickups without the drawbacks. Plus, these pickups don’t require batteries! What’s more, their massive headroom permits you to pick as aggressively as you want without flattening your signal. Guitarists have found these pickups to have exceptionally balanced volume between the neck and bridge — you can switch between the two positions with zero drops in volume.
Dive deep with an Edge-Zero II-7 tremolo
The XPTB720’s Edge-Zero II-7 tremolo gives you the fast response and snap you need to pull off sharp bends and vibrato. The extreme stability of this knife-edge-style trem’s stud lock function is also one of the many reasons it’s a favorite among many of today’s top players. If you’re looking for a guitar that can stand up to long, aggressive playing sessions without losing its tuning, you’re going to love the XPTB720.
