Affordable Vintage-style Martin 000 A/E with Modern Playability
Perfect for players seeking Martin quality and tone in an affordable, smaller-bodied acoustic-electric guitar, the 000-16E Granadillo is the ticket. A favorite among fingerstylists and ideal for tracking, the vintage-inspired 000 body style delivers a balanced, detailed sound, which the onboard Fishman Matrix VT Enhance NT1 system amplifies to perfection. A combination of high-quality tonewoods, including Sitka spruce, granadillo, and ebony, are used for their depth and rich harmonics. And the 000-16E Granadillo boasts a classic, no-nonsense look that works onstage or in your living room. The Martin 000-16E Granadillo Auditorium combines some of the most tried-and-true elements of vintage acoustic guitar construction, such as scalloped Sitka spruce X bracing, with modern upgrades that enhance the guitar’s playability.
Vintage construction, modern playability
The Martin 000-16E Granadillo acoustic-electric guitar has the popular Auditorium body that has been a favorite among performing guitarists for many decades. It delivers rich low end, while giving each note a balance and clarity that works as a solo instrument, for accompanying your voice, and for layering in a full arrangement. The neck joins the body at the 14th fret for a total scale length of 24.9″. The neck is built with Martin’s Modified Low Oval profile with High Performance Taper to appeal to today’s guitarists. For your playing pleasure, the ebony fingerboard is buffed to silky smoothness and the frets are dressed to perfection using a Plek Pro machine for optimized playability. Typically reserved for top-dollar custom guitars, this process levels the frets with pinpoint precision, providing you with the most playable fretboard you’re likely to own.
Sonically rich tonewood combination
The granadillo, spruce, and ebony combination used on the 000-16E Granadillo is exceptionally effective in the way it balances warmth, detail, and a wide frequency response. The Sitka spruce top offers great stiffness-to-weight ratio to get maximum volume and power from your strings. The granadillo back and sides ensure your tone stays even across the frequency range, while delivering plenty of warmth. And the ebony fingerboard also contributes to the rich harmonic warmth and depth of the guitar.
Proprietary electronics
Martin and Fishman have been working together for over 30 years in an effort to build the best acoustic-electric guitars on the market. And they recently teamed up again to create the Matrix VT Enhance NT1 pickup system that you’ll find in the 000-16E Granadillo. This system consists of Fishman’s popular Matrix under-saddle pickup and an advanced Enhance element that can be blended into the signal separately via the soundhole-mounted controls. The Enhance function lets the natural sounds of the guitar come through, which is ideal for players using techniques such as body tapping.
Streamlined vintage visuals
Both modern players who want a striking-looking instrument and lovers of vintage Martins will appreciate the straightforward appearance of the 000-16E Granadillo. The guitar’s mother-of-pearl fingerboard inlays, Bold Herringbone with Multi-Stripe rosette, and Faux Tortoise pickguard give it the look of a well-loved prize from the pre-war era. And Martin’s satin finish helps enhance the tone of the guitar by letting the woods breathe naturally.
The CF Martin legacy
What hasn’t been said about the CF Martin company? Martin — a name virtually synonymous with the acoustic guitar — took root in the United States in 1833 with a small shop in lower Manhattan. Five years later, Christian Frederick Martin moved his business and family to the rolling hills of Pennsylvania, where Martin has been located ever since. From the Dreadnought body shape to the 14-fret neck, Martin innovations paralleled (and indeed, drove) the development of the acoustic guitar itself. When you play any Martin guitar, you’re holding a piece of music history.
